Abstract

Objective: The present study aims to examine the impact of conflict management strategies (including avoidance, solution-orientation, and competition strategies) on employees’ sustainable commitment at Yazd University.

Methodology: This research is applied in terms of purpose and descriptive-causal in nature. Data collection was conducted through both library research and field studies. The statistical population consists of the employees of Yazd University, from whom 172 individuals were selected using simple random sampling based on Cochran’s formula. The data collection instruments include the Conflict Management Strategies Questionnaire by Putnam and Wilson (1987) and the Employee Sustainable Commitment Questionnaire by Meyer and Allen (1991). Data analysis was performed using SPSS and Smart PLS software through structural equation modeling (SEM).

Findings: The results indicate internal consistency, an acceptable level of reliability and convergent and discriminant validity, and a strong model fit, as well as significant correlations among the variables. Additionally, path analysis results revealed that conflict management strategies, including avoidance, solution-orientation, and competition strategies, have a statistically significant and positive effect on employees’ sustainable commitment at Yazd University.

Conclusion: It is recommended that the senior management of Yazd University establish various task forces to consider all organizational aspects and assist managers in identifying appropriate strategies for conflict management among employees. Moreover, the university should review its current policies, procedures, and regulations in line with employees’ feedback and grant them greater autonomy in their roles.
