Abstract

Objective: The main objective of this study was to design and present an appropriate corporate banking model for the country’s banking system by identifying the dimensions, implementation requirements, executive strategies, contextual factors, and outcomes of corporate banking in Iran’s banking industry.

Methods and Materials: This study was conducted using a qualitative approach and thematic analysis method. The research population consisted of banking experts and specialists in the field of corporate banking who were selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with eight banking managers and experts, and sampling continued until theoretical saturation was achieved. Data analysis was performed using MAXQDA software through open coding, extraction of basic themes, organizing themes, and overarching themes. To ensure the credibility and trustworthiness of the findings, coding reviews, internal validity procedures, and expert evaluations were employed.

Findings: The findings revealed that the corporate banking model in the country’s banking system consists of five major dimensions, including contextual factors, implementation requirements, dimensions of corporate banking, executive strategies and policies, and corporate banking outcomes. In the contextual dimension, factors such as laws and regulations, economic conditions, organizational factors, and government roles were identified as influential components. Furthermore, implementation requirements emphasized the importance of specialized human resources, customer orientation, structural flexibility, personalized services, and technological infrastructures. The findings also indicated that effective implementation of corporate banking could lead to enhanced competitive advantage, increased profitability, improved customer loyalty, reduced credit risk, and greater value creation for customers.

Conclusion: The results demonstrated that the development of corporate banking in the national banking system requires the design of a localized and flexible model compatible with the country’s economic, legal, and managerial conditions. Successful implementation of corporate banking depends on coordination among organizational structures, macro banking policies, modern technologies, specialized human resources, and customer-oriented strategies. Simultaneous attention to implementation requirements and environmental factors can significantly improve banking performance and create sustainable value for corporate customers.
