The Role of Strategic Planning in Improving Organizational Performance in Private Hospitals

This study aimed to explore the role of strategic planning in improving organizational performance in private hospitals in Tehran. This qualitative research was conducted using semi-structured interviews with 23 managers and supervisors from private hospitals in Tehran. Participants were selected through purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using NVivo software, employing coding and qualitative content analysis until theoretical saturation was achieved. The findings indicated that strategic planning significantly enhances organizational performance, process improvement, and resource optimization in private hospitals. Key factors identified included managerial commitment, employee empowerment, communication transparency, and conflict management. The balanced scorecard and strategic human resource management were highlighted as crucial tools for improving hospital performance. Strategic planning is a vital managerial tool that can lead to significant improvements in organizational performance in private hospitals. Effective implementation requires strong managerial commitment, sufficient resource allocation, and continuous evaluation and adaptation of strategies. Hospitals should prioritize employee empowerment and utilize tools such as the balanced scorecard and strategic HR management to achieve competitive advantages and enhance service quality.
